Big Easy Adventures

The artist (and foodie) in me LOVES the essence of New Orleans. There's inspiration to be found all around. While I have been to the city before, this last trip was by far the best.

Get off Bourbon St.! Most tourists never venture far from Bourbon. While the smell is an experience all its own, there's so much more to NOLA than Bourbon.

My first stop is always somewhere to stuff my face. If you're looking for a place that's reasonably priced with great food, check out Mother's. The line gets long so get there early.

Beer and BBQ? Yes, please! The NOLA Brewing Company has a great selection of beer and serves McClure's BBQ. As a transitioning vegetarian I was excited to see the offered a mushroom melt on their menu. Great BBQ and splitting a beer sampler is life.

Ever wondered how all the Mardi Gras Floats are made? Visit Mardi Gras World and get a behind the scenes look.

Of course, I must stop at Cafe Du Monde when I'm in the Crescent City. I could sit and eat Beignets and drink their coffee all day. Those have been the only items on the menu since they opened in 1862. They're just that good.

Art is everywhere! Right across from Cafe Dumont is Jackson Square. Here, local artists display and sell their art alongside musicians and other street performers. Take a stroll from Bourbon to Frenchman St. (where more locals hang out) and explore the galleries along the way.
