I'll Have a Burger. Hold the Hormones.
Fun fact about me: I love burgers (tacos too... ok I just love food). Another fun fact: I haven't eaten chicken, beef, or pork in about three years (I eat seafood on occasion, but I'm very particular about the seafood I eat). When I tell people that I usually get blank stares and then the question, "Soooo what do you eat? Lettuce?" Ummmm I actually eat A LOT and way more than just boring salads. My first mission when I decided to cut the meat was to find the best veggie burgers. Burgers are life.
Why did I ditch meat? The way meat is processed in this country is scary to me. Hormones in food are producing mutant fifth graders that are six feet tall (I've actually seen this myself). At first, I just ate grass fed beef or natural chicken. I started eating less and less meat. I don't miss it at all. Going vegan will take a bit more will power. I really like eggs.
The first thing I noticed after a little while of not eating meat was my skin. I didn't have many skin issues before, but I noticed that it was smoother and I had less hormonal break outs. My overall health improved. I can't remember the last time I had the flu or even a cold.
I've always lived an active lifestyle, so naturally I've tried different supplements. Even after I stopped eating meat, I continued to use a whey protein. I thought to myself, "Why am I consuming whey when I don't even drink cow's milk because it upsets my stomach?" After trying a few different plant-based protein powders, I found one I love.
Garden of Life has a full line of plant-based supplements. My go to supplement is the Sport Protein. It has 30 grams of protein, tastes great and mixes well. Why your tummy will love it:
-No Added Sugars
I'll post some of my favorite veggie recipes later, but here is a super easy smoothie recipe using the Garden of Life Sport vanilla protein. It's great for breakfast or a post workout recovery drink.

1/2 cup of raspberries (frozen or fresh)
1/2 of a medium banana
1/2 cup of chopped mango
1/2 cup of almond milk

Add all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
